MIDDLESBROUGH

1862 - 1873

 

Raylton Dixon had come down from Newcastle as manager of the former Rake, Kimber yard on the site of the present Transporter Bridge, after it had been bought by Richardson, Duck of Thornaby in 1859, producing several vessels sub-contracted from Thornaby. The yard was bought out by Dixon and his partner Backhouse in 1862, operating as Backhouse, Dixon until bought out entirely by Raylton Dixon in 1873 (see separate list.)
