JOSEPH PARKIN & THOMAS RICHARDSON
THOMAS RICHARDSON
RICHARDSON BROTHERS
HARTLEPOOL
1837 - 1857
Parkin & Richardson established a yard for wooden ships on the Headland at Hartlepool, moving to Middleton in 1838. The partnership was dissolved and Thomas Richardson developed his business of marine steam engines, but constructed two vessels in 1845-1846. He died in 1850 and his two sons, Thomas and John built a further series of vessels between 1855 and 1857. The Richardson name became prominent in the field of marine engineering in the town.
Early yard numbers may have been allocated later by researchers rather than at the time of building.
